BYTEGEIST SOFTWARE EXPORT SUCCESS
Tuesday, 9 March 2004.
Original article by Austrade.
Austrade is hoping to attract a new batch of NSW technology companies
to the export market when the Digital Content and Web Services road
show gets underway in Sydney this week.
Austrade’s Industry specialist for the Information Communication
Technology (ICT) sector Tony Burchill said the growing digital and web
services industry represented an enormous opportunity for NSW
companies.
“Australian ICT companies are attracting global attention for
excellence in niche areas of digital content production and the rest
of the world is starting to sit up and take notice,” Mr Burchill said.
“The road show will be a chance for Austrade to show local ICT
companies how they can get their share of this lucrative export
market.”
According to the recently released From Cottages to Corporations
report, a vibrant, creative digital industry will shift Australia from
being a net importer of over $1 billion of content in 2000/2001 to
being a potential net exporter of $1.5 billion by 2010.
“The success of Australian eLearning companies in the UK and the
fact that the technology-heavy Matrix movies were filmed in Australia
are both indicators that we do have quality technology in Australia,”
Mr Burchill said.
The Digital Content and Web Services Road Show will focus on export
opportunities available to Web development firms, online
payment/billing companies, computer-based training companies, graphic
design firms and digital designers.
Tom Kennedy, Chief Executive of Digital Content consultants Hyro
Limited, a company that played a key role in formulating the federal
government’s policy on digital content, Robert Hutchinson and Domenic
Friguglietto, from the ABC, will be among the guest speakers.
“Mr Kennedy, Mr Hutchison and Mr Friguglietto are digital content
experts who will be able to give up to date information on the state
of the industry and participants will be able to take enormous benefit
from the quality of their advice and experiences,“ Mr Burchill said.
Sydney based company Bytegeist Software exports its
specialist game and graphics technology to the UK, US and New Zealand
and encourages other NSW technology companies to come along to the
road show to learn how to take their ideas to the world.
“Austrade has provided our company with marketing advice, education
and financial assistance through the Export Marketing Development
Grant (EMDG),” CEO Jed Fisher said.
“Your company may be eligible to receive this sort of support so
come along to the road show in Sydney to see what Austrade can do for
you,” Mr Fisher said. For more information go to
